Documentation
The registration process involves compiling documentation from many sources and implementing systems within your own business to the satisfaction of the Building Practitioner's Board. We have proprietary tools and templates to assist you with this process and use a system which ensures all the documentation is tailored to your individual situation while also being compliant with the registration process.
Application Process
The Building Practitioner's Board application process requires you to complete a number of specialized components. Further details are provided here. Once your application has been finalised by us, it will be assessed to ensure that all the required information is provided. When complete, you then forward your application for assessment to the Building Commission.
Once your application has been received by the Building Commission, it will be assessed for completeness. In some cases, you will be required to attend a Question and Answer multiple choice examination at the Southbank offices of the Building Commission.
Once this process is complete, you will be notified of a date to attend for an interview with a Building Practitioner board member who will interview you. Your interview could last for 1 – 2 hours or longer, depending on what further information the Board member requires. There is no way of knowing beforehand how long the interview will take.
You will be expected to know about building matters and basic business operations such as invoicing and financial reports.
The recommendation of the Board Member/Assessor is then made to a full meeting of the Board, held each month.
In order for an application to be considered by the Board at its monthly meeting, it must be submitted with all the required information.
Advantages of Registration
The benefit of your Building Practitioner Registration is not just the obvious for professional reasons, but it gives you the added advantage of undertaking a thorough assessment of how you run your business and the systems you have in place. This process alone will give you more confidence on how you operate and the changes you need to make to bring it up to a level you can be proud of.
